In partnership with Habitat for Humanity affiliates and other homeownership programs, corporate partners and members of the community, Warrick Dunn Charities has provided programming and services dedicated to single parents and children across the nation to improve their quality of life since 1997.
Initiatives include economic empowerment, education and wellness. With community and corporate support, Warrick Dunn Charities has awarded more than $3 million in cash, food and other donations to support sustainable futures through affordable homeownership and education assistance
Ninety-two percent of families remain in their home. Surveys of recipients reflect that there is an increased belief in the attainability of education for themselves and their children. The majority of Homes for the Holiday recipients (82%) felt that home stability would enable them and their dependents to seek desired education.
Recipients have also reported aspirations to improve their lives via health management, emotional support or employment changes.
Homeownership provides critical stability for owners and neighborhoods. Some studies have shown that homeownership is beneficial for children, as they are more likely to do well in school. These benefits include improved health and performance outcomes for children, increased civic engagement and volunteerism, reduced crime and higher lifetime wealth.
