SCULPT

Better health through better living.

WHAT WE DO

SCULPT was designed to provide participants with valuable wellness information that can be incorporated into their everyday lives. Making healthier choices doesn’t just apply to the adults in the household, it’s something kids can do too! Our SCULPT workshop series is designed to be kid friendly and inclusive so that future generations are empowered with the tools necessary to build a healthier future.

When families live healthier lifestyles, they also save money in the long run. They are often able to reduce their medical expenses and the need for medications. Our SCULPT workshop series allows families to invest in themselves by creating fun memories through learning how to build a garden and grow their own foods; participating in cooking classes; and engaging in fun fitness and health related activities.

For a period of 6 months, participant families commit to attending a monthly educational session. Health data is collected at the beginning of the series and again at the 6 month mark.

With dedication and consistency, families are empowered to improve their own health outcomes!”

“I attended the SCULPT Home Gardening Workshop and it has changed my life! SCULPT has made me want to eat better and live a healthier lifestyle. My nutrition, diet, and healthy habits have increased so much. From gardening and learning how to make small daily changes, it has made a major difference in my family’s life.” – Kimberly Kindel

“In 2020, 38.3 million people lived in food-insecure households.”

HOW WE DO IT

Step 1:

We schedule SCULPT workshops for families in our local communities. These events are funded by our partners and donors like you.

Step 2:

“Participating families have the opportunity over a 6 month period of time to learn from professionals about healthy eating on a budget, the importance of nutritious food choices for families, and more.

Step 3:

After being educated and excited about healthy living, families are provided with the tools and resources needed to kickstart what they’ve learned.

WHY WE DO IT

For many parents, providing healthy meals for their families feels unaffordable. SCULPT combats this by educating and motivating individuals through a nutrition and wellness program that’s developed specifically for low-income families.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Donate

Food insecurity affects all areas of a child’s development. Donate to help take food insecurity off the table and get healthy food on the table.

HOW WE GOT STARTED

SCULPT was founded to expand the impact our pantry-fills were having on the single-parent families we were serving through Homes for the Holidays, our flagship program.

What you’ll learn:

  • Prioritizing your health and better understanding of your personal health information.
  • Making fitness and physical activity fun and accessible for the entire family.
  • How to grow your own produce and herbs at home.
  • How to meal plan, including quick, budget-friendly, healthy meals.
  • Managing stress and ways to improve your emotional wellbeing.

If you are interested in learning more, please contact Program Coordinator Anna D’Alessandro at adalessandro@wdc.org.
